Paris With Teens: A Stress-Free 3 Day Paris Itinerary Your Whole Family Will Love
Planning a trip to Paris with teens doesn’t have to mean rushing from attraction to attraction or trying to check every landmark off a list. For families looking for a 3 day Paris itinerary with teens, there so many great options to consider.
After traveling to Paris as a family, we discovered something that made our trip so much more enjoyable: one main activity each day.
We love to do a mix of relaxing, sight seeing and exploring neighborhoods. Instead of overplanning, each member of our family picked one “must-do” experience, and we built our days around that. We left room for spontaneous bakery stops, people watching at cafés, and wandering beautiful neighborhoods.
It turned out to be one of our favorite family trips.
If you’re looking for a realistic 3 day Paris itinerary with teens, here’s exactly what worked for us.

Our Favorite Parts of Paris With Teens
✨ Staying in a walkable neighborhood
✨ Letting our kids help choose activities
✨ Using the Metro and letting teens navigate
✨ Finding local bakeries instead of only famous attractions
✨ Planning downtime instead of rushing between sights
The biggest lesson from our Paris trip: you don’t need to see everything to have an unforgettable family trip.
Where to Stay in Paris with Teens
If it’s your first visit to Paris, I highly recommend staying in the 5th arrondissement.
It’s central, walkable, filled with neighborhood cafés and bakeries, and makes it easy to reach most of Paris by foot or Metro.
We stayed at Hotel Les Dames du Panthéon, directly across from the Panthéon, and absolutely loved it. The location made sightseeing easy without constantly changing Metro lines.
Even better—we booked our stay entirely with Chase Ultimate Rewards® points transferred to Hyatt, making our hotel cost $0 out of pocket.

Day 1: Arrival in Paris + Explore Montmartre
Because we arrived from London on the Eurostar, we still had most of the afternoon to explore.
We checked into our hotel, dropped our bags, and immediately headed to Montmartre.
After recently rewatching Amélie, I couldn’t wait to wander the neighborhood.

Montmartre

Climb the Dome at Sacré-Cœur
If you’re traveling with teenagers, don’t skip climbing to the top of the Basilica.
The panoramic views over Paris were one of the biggest surprises of the trip, and our kids actually loved it.
Instead of booking a tour, we simply explored on our own before wandering through the small streets filled with boutiques, artists, cafés, and bakeries.
We even found sweaters for my husband and me and a purse that my daughter still carries.
I think a walking tour of Montmartre would be a great addition if you want more guidance on the highlights of this historic neighborhood.
One thing we’ve learned traveling with a teen and tween is that snack breaks are just as important as sightseeing.
Stopping for pastries and hot chocolate kept everyone happy and avoided the “I’m starving” meltdowns that seem to happen at the worst possible times.
Dinner in Place de la Contrescarpe
Back near our hotel, we wandered into Place de la Contrescarpe, one of our favorite neighborhoods in Paris.
This lively square is lined with casual bistros serving:
- Steak frites
- Burgers
- Pasta
- French desserts
Perfect when everyone wants something different.
One of our favorite travel traditions is bringing a deck of cards to restaurants. While we wait for dinner, everyone plays instead of pulling out their phones.

Day 2: Great Mosque of Paris + Eiffel Tower
Great Mosque of Paris

Visit One of Paris’s Hidden Gems
One of my favorite places in Paris is the Great Mosque of Paris.
It’s peaceful, beautiful, and somehow still flies under the radar for many visitors.
Don’t miss:
- The beautiful courtyard gardens
- Moroccan mint tea
- Fresh pastries
- The café
- The restaurant if you’re looking for lunch
If you’re trying to escape the crowds for an hour, this is the perfect place.
We paid the small admission fee and toured on our own, but you can also book a private guided tour.

Eiffel Tower at Sunset

This was our daughter’s number one highlight of the trip.
We booked summit tickets in advance and timed our visit so we could:
- See Paris during daylight
- Watch the sunset
- Stay long enough to watch the city light up
Seeing the Eiffel Tower sparkle after dark was absolutely worth planning around.

Dinner: Académie de la Bière
For dinner, we headed to Académie de la Bière.
It had something for everyone—from Belgian beer and mussels for the adults to burgers, steak frites, and desserts for the kids.
Day 3: Bakery Breakfast + Louvre
Breakfast at La Boulangerie Moderne
Every single morning, we found ourselves back at La Boulangerie Moderne.
It was only steps from our hotel, and everything we tried was incredible.
Bonus: it’s also featured in Emily in Paris, which made it even more fun for our daughter.

Louvre Museum
Instead of spending an entire day wandering the museum, we booked a guided highlights tour.
Honestly, this was the right decision for our family.
We saw:
- The Mona Lisa
- Venus de Milo
- Winged Victory
- Several other famous works
Would I do it again?
Probably—but I think I’d choose the Musée d’Orsay next time.
One thing I wish I’d known before our trip is that many Paris museums are free for visitors under 18, making them a surprisingly affordable activity for families.

Traveling with teens works best when they have ownership over the trip—not when every minute is scheduled.
