City Scavenger Hunt: Enjoyable Ways to Explore a New City
Looking for a unique, affordable way to explore a new city? A city scavenger hunt can be a fun and interactive way to see the sights. Theyโre a great fit for families, couples, or solo travelers.

While spending a day in Denver, we decided to try out a city scavenger hunt with ScavengerHunt.com. For $11.99, it provided us with a self-guided walking tour with an interactive twist. This helped us discover parts of the city we mightโve otherwise missed. The app led us through the Civic Center area with questions that had us looking closely at historic buildings and monuments. While the questions mostly focused on reading signs or details on buildingsโwhich wasnโt as interactive as weโd hopedโit still gave us a fun structure for our day.
We turned it into our own adventure! Along the way, we made stops to admire colorful Dรญa de los Muertos decorations, stumbled upon some interactive public art, and treated ourselves to delicious crepes from a nearby cafรฉ. These spontaneous detours made the experience even more memorable.
While the kids eventually lost interest in the clues (we’re now on the lookout for scavenger hunts that feel more like outdoor escape rooms), they still enjoyed exploring the city and discovering cool spots they wouldnโt have noticed otherwise.
Money-saving tip: The website recommends buying one ticket per person, but if youโre doing the hunt as a family or group, one ticket is usually enough. Only one person needs the app open to guide the group.
Overall, it was a fun and low-cost way to get outside and explore parts of Denver, and Iโm already looking forward to trying this in other cities. Next time, Iโll be hunting for a version with more puzzles and interactivity to keep everyone engaged.
If you’re looking for a casual, self-paced way to explore a city with a bit of structure, a city scavenger hunt is definitely worth a try!
